Breakdown of cast, props, setting, location report for magazine.

The pictures is have taken for my magazine are of band called Stornoway, the pictures were taken at a gig they did at the Norwich venue called 'The Waterfront'. The pictures will be used in the front cover, featured article and possibly the contents page if no other photos can be obtained.

Initial Ideas For My Magazine.

For my magazine is thinking about doing a serious music journalism magazine with a focus on bands that aren't as well known in the main-stream music industry. Although the focus is to be on these types of bands there will be articles about someone main-stream music and bands. My magazine I hope will be like NME which also focus' on bands in and outside the main-stream. My magazine will also do a feature article on different band every issue.

Font Ideas for Magazine.

Analysis of Questionnaire for College Magazine.

We carried out a college magazine questionnaire and found that the 95% the sample questioned do not read a college magazine. The sample stated that they would also like to see: news and events, sport, fashion, gaming and job information. If a college magazine were to include these articles about these it may appeal to the 95% who didn’t read a college magazine.
The third question was based around the price of a college magazine and 70% of the sample said they would pay up to 50p; the other 30% would be willing to pay more. Also according to the results gathered from the questionnaire, college students would be encouraged to purchase the college magazine if it were bright and colourful eg, attention catching and it if had free stuff with it. But one student answered they would buy it if was free, so an idea could be to make the first magazine free and if it proves popular the next issues will cost 50p.
Most students also wanted to see articles about subject information like revision tips and good subject websites to help with exams and essays. And from the questionnaire I can conclude that students are not willing to subscribe to a college magazine. Information gathered from the questionnaire shows most students would likely to pay for a monthly magazine and 85% would like to see a ‘what’s on’ guide.

College Magazine Analysis.

This college magazine is good example of what students are because the stereotypical student is messy and unorganised and fairly good because it shows notes and drawings that have been torn and put on this cover, this is a good effect because I believe it reflects a stereotypical students quite well. Also this is different from most college magazines because it focuses on their lifestyle rather than having a picture of an actual student. As well as this, the font of the title is the same style of the magazine because it looks messy to and this suits the magazine.

Complete Analysis of Magazine.

Kerrang! Complete Analysis.

The front cover of ‘Kerrang Legends’ has one main picture of the featured band and three smaller pictures of other bands also featured within the magazine. The title of the magazine follows a common theme following the same font as printed on newer editions of Kerrang magazines. The front cover also includes four colours excluding the colours in the pictures. These colours are very bold and stand out in front of the pictures, this makes it eye catching. The pictures, font, colour and headline I think will appeal to its target audience because the pictures are of bands the target audience will appeal to and appreciate, which makes sense.

The contents page of this ‘Kerrang Legends’ goes across two pages and has a total of 9 pictures/photos, all these photos are related to the bands featured in the magazine. There are very limited numbers of colours on the contents page of the magazine and the main colours used are black which is used in the writing. And the other colour used is red which is used for the numbering of the articles and the pages they are on. Also on the contents page there is a column with the names of the editors, photographers, contributors etc. but there is no editorial. The edition I have analysed is a special edition and this why there is no editorial as in all Kerrang magazine there usually is. This contents page, I feel appeals to its target audience because of the amounts and content of the pictures. Also the simple colours of black and red are associated with the genres of music this magazine covers, as well as this, the fonts from the front cover are followed onto the contents page.

The first featured articles in analysised was a Kerrang! articles which written about the band Linkin Park. On the pages that Linkin Park are featured has the same background throughout although the picture page that contains a title and picture which covers two pages, has a little introduction piece to the band. The articles over the pages includes 7 pages and quotes from the article dotted on the pages but in larger font, this may be because it attracts readers to the page. Also the background to this article is like a metal material which in a way reflects the bands genre of music, I check other featured articles and this seemed to be a theme in the Kerrang! magazine, but usually it may have been a colour or an effect such as flames.

This Kerrang! featured few adverts and the adverts that are in the magazine can be associated with the target audience of the magazine, these adverts included HMV, Snickers, Empire magazine and various gigs and tours that the target audience may be likely to go to. All the adverts in the Kerrang! magazine would appeal to the target audience because readers of the magazine are likely to be in to music and buying music which is why HMV is an appropriate advert as well as Snickers and Empire.
