For the masthead of my magazine I used the font 'Orator Std' which is a font in Abode Photoshop CS4. I used this font because I believe that it matches the theme of the magazine fairly well. Also the masthead is placed in a black box. This I believe conforms to the conventions of real media products because for example magazines such as Kerrang! use the black box and bold fonts which conforms to the rock/indie theme magazine as these are colours which are associated with rock and indie which is what my media product covers. Also the magazine 'Q' conforms to this to but it uses different colours. This is because 'Q' is more of a lifestyle magazine whereas Kerrang! focus' more on a specific genre of music, like my magazine, which is why I decided to follow the conventions of Kerrang! Rather than 'Q'.
Costumes and Props.
Title font and Style.
For my title I used the font called ‘'Orator Std’ which can be found in Abode PhotoShop CS4, I then added a black box to put behind the title to emphasis the title and make it stand out from the rest of cover. This conforms to conventions of the typical rock/indie magazine because black is a common colour used in these types of magazines. Another way in which my magazine conforms to typical musical magazines is because the title uses to largest font on the cover followed by the main cover line and the selling line.
Music Genre and how the cover suggests it.
The music genres covered in my magazine were indie/rock, I think my magazine cover suggests this well because the photo I used on the cover is of someone in a indie band, wearing typically indie clothing and holding an acoustic guitar which is also associated with indie music. This is why I choose to use this image for the cover because I felt it put across the music genre/s covered in my magazine well.
